My Photographic Journey
Hong Kong in the 90's, there were photo labs around every street corner, camera stores about everywhere you go. That's where I grew up, no matter I like it or not, photography was very much part of the daily life in Hong Kong.

While I started photographing on film, just like anybody else, when digital became the norm in early 2000's, I switched to digital camera and left my analogue cameras behind.

In 2011, after grad school, I noticed the growing interest in video production. I bought myself a Canon 5D mk ii teaching myself to create video with DSLR. By 2013, I began working on commercial projects and taking on clients. In the meantime, I also collaborated with filmmakers on indie film projects as a cinematographer.

But photography is always my passion. Whenever I was not filming for my clients, I would photograph with models as a refuge from the commercial world. That was where I get to experiment with lighting, while working with models from various experience level.

In 2022, when my best friend Maurice showed increasing interest in photography; he convinced me to pick up my old film cameras again. That was perhaps the most costly mistake in decades. Instead of photographing with my digital camera, I had gone into the rabbit hole of collecting and experimenting with different formats, film stocks, vintage camera and lenses.

Now, I photograph with an array or large format, medium format and 135 cameras, as well as my digital Canon platform and Leica rangefinders when I travel.
